    Register your Weed Wrangle

Each Weed Wrangle must provide education on the importance of managing invasive species, how to identify the species that will be managed on the day of your Weed Wrangle event, teach participants management techniques, and then spend time managing invasive species at your location. Your Weed Wrangle location should have a written invasive species management plan and we ask that you hold at least three Weed Wrangles at your location over time. Holding at least three wrangles teaches our citizens that land management takes time, and supplies you with increased capacity for invasive species management.  Contact Taylor for assistance with an invasive species survey and management plan if needed.

Review the who, what, when, where and why of a Weed Wrangle.

    Tracking
We ask that you please track the following metrics during your Weed Wrangle (WW) for reporting in the follow up report
    • # of volunteers (adult and youth) and the number of hours worked
    • Target species removed
    • Did you supplement with native plants?
    • Garlic mustard (volume)- count number of full trash bags collected. Be sure to note trash bag gallon size.
    • Wood vegetation (volume) - Calculate volume of species removed  (by species if targeting multiple, if possible) via volume of disposal trailer
    • GM and woody veg - track area cleared (acres) and estimate density prior to removal
      • Density of invasives - Low (less than 30% cover), Medium (31-60% cover), High (60+% cover)
We also ask that you take a (or multiple) group photos with the placard signage (below).

You can preview the tracking submission form here.

Temporary signage is available for display before, during, and after your Weed Wrangle.  These signs can be reserved (in sets of two) via the SWCD tool loan program. You can create your own account and reserve items (as well as Weed Wrangle boxes and puller bars) or contact Claire or Taylor for assistance.

Weed Wrangle is a nationwide program and particular about their logo use. SICIM has obtained permission for Indiana Weed Wrangles to use the Weed Wrangle Indiana logo.  Use of the logo must include the trademark symbol. Do not alter the Weed Wrangle logo. SICIM will forward your event information to the National Weed Wrangle organization and they will publish the information on the national webpage.

If you are able, please create a Facebook event for your Weed Wrangle and add HIP (@hcinvasives) as a host!

After you click submit, the confirmation message will contain a link to the HIP Weed Wrangle shared drive where additional resources are available for your use.  This information will be passed along to SICIM for inclusion on their statewide WW listing and to WW for their website.
